The collection includes journals kept by Professor Merchant's mother, Candace Downs Merchant; Merchant family biographical information; family photographs; addresses by Professor Merchant; and business and legal documentation associated with the administration of the Merchant estate. The journals kept by Candace Downs Merchant during her time with her family in Europe are particularly interesting.

The F.W. Cover collection consists of materials related to Cover’s courses at the Iowa State Teachers College and dates from 1918-1926. Included are his schedule of classes, extension work and correspondence work reports, a transcript, information about credits, and two letters.
Iowa State Teachers College officials represented in the collection are Registrar Charles S. Cory and Department of Natural Science Head Emmett J. Cable.
Free! magazine collection
This collection consists primarily of loose copies of Free! magazine's two 1973 issues along with a set of bound copies. Also included is a report titled, "A Study of Students' Attitudes Toward Free Magazine"(Fall 1973) conducted to gauge students' interest in the magazine's content and to help the Board of Student Publications decide if the magazine would continued to be published.
