Kappa Theta Psi collection
Scope and Contents
The Kappa Theta Psi collection dates from 1906 to 1968 and contains materials related to the organization's events and operations. It consists of two scrapbooks, dating from 1949-1954, and 1954-1958, respectively. There are also folders corresponding to loose materials from each of the scrapbooks, which contain items such as party napkins, newspaper clippings, greeting cards, thank you cards, wedding invitations, paper cutouts adversiting events, booklets with information about sororities, photographs, and event programs.
Additionally, the collection includes multiple journals containing the organization's by-laws and constitution from 1906 to 1957, as well as six journals with the group's meeting minutes from 1942 to 1960. Finally, the collection contains alumni newsletters, titled "Kappa Keyhole" from the years 1963 to 1968.

Biographical / Historical
Kappa Theta Psi was a sorority founded at the Iowa State Teachers College (now the University of Northern Iowa) in either 1898 or 1906. In 1969, the organization was accepted as a charter member of the national social sorority, Alpha Sigma Tau. Kappa Theta Psi focused on womanhood and its members strove to hold themselves to high standards socially, intellectually, and morally.
