Biographical / Historical
The Iowa Teachers First Organization (ITF) was established in 1941 by President Malcolm Price in order to "...promote Iowa State Teachers College in the cause of securing an able and competent student body." Membership was capped at twenty-five students, all of whom had to be involved in extracurricular activities, have good academic standing, and be either a junior or senior. Members were expected to promote interest in ISTC throughout Iowa and cultivate a positive attitude about the school. Types of ITF-sponsored events included Senior Day and ITF alumni homecoming breakfasts. Iowa Teachers First was discontinued in 1951-1952 due to President Price's resignation, the changing nature of campus, and the recognition that ITF was not as useful as it once was to the campus community.
