Ila Mae Hemm Collection

 Collection
Identifier: 19/128

Scope and Contents

The Ila Mae Hemm collection contains materials from her years at ISTC/SCI that provide insight into student life on campus, including Greek life and campus events. The bulk of the collection is a 57 page scrapbook compiled by Hemm, which consists of ephemeral content such as news clippings, invitations, programs, brochures, and more. Greek life is heavily represented, particularly materials from Phi Sigma Phi, instructions about rush procedures (1959), napkins from Greek events, and a 1958-1959 campus Greek organization booklet. There are also items related to Dad's Day and Mother's Day, Purple Arrow, Associated Women Students, and materials related to Hemm's appointment as dorm counselor. Please note that a handful of pages are restricted as they contain student records. The collection also includes a handful of artifacts, such as a Phi Sigma Phi paddle with Ila’s name inscribed on it, a tassel (1962), a Phi Sigma Phi patch, a Phi Sigma Phi sorority pin, and two ribbons (Associated Women Students and Counselor).
