Edith Lindberg Collection
Scope and Contents
The Edith Lindberg collection contains materials representing her time as a student at the Iowa State Teachers College (ISTC) and as a teacher following her graduation. It includes certification information and information for the ISTC Place Bureau, as well as certificates such as the Permanent Professional Certificate, Standard Elementary Teachers Certificate, Normal Training Certificate, and Rural School Choir work certificate, among others. It also has a 1960 commencement program and a typewritten story.
Additionally in the collection are postcards of Waterloo public school buildings; photographs from the 1953 Business-Education Day; a Cedar Terrace / Nellie Garvey staff photo (1977); and two class photographs from the 1983 and 1984 school years, during which Lindberg was a teacher.
Finally, the collection includes a sampling of Lindberg's schoolwork from 1946, specifically wind charts / weather charts completed in a course taught by Emmett Cable.

Biographical / Historical
Edith Lindberg was born on October 27, 1921, in Vinton, Iowa. She earned the following degrees and certificates: High School Normal Training (1943); ISTC Standard Elementary Certificate (1943); ISTC Advanced Elementary bachelor’s degree (1947); and ISTC Permanent Professional Certificate (1960). While a student at the Iowa State Teachers College (ISTC), Lindberg was involved in the Hamilton Club, Lutheran Students Association, Elementary Club II, and Beta Alpha Epsilon.
