This collection consists of Perry O. Cole's photograph booklet featuring the Iowa State Normal School's Third Year Class (1898). It contains images of class members, a majority of which are labeled with each individual's name. The booklet's cover indicates that William L. Veatch was the photographer.

Biographical / Historical
Perry O. Cole graduated from the Iowa State Normal School (now the University of Northern Iowa) in 1898. While at ISNS, he was involved in the Philo Literary Society, which included portraying William Patterson in a performance about the 1787 constitutional convention. He also performed as a shepherd in his Class Day production of "As You Like It." Additionally, during the 1897-1898 school year, he was a sergeant in Company B in the Department of Military Science and Tactics Battalion Organization. Upon graduation, he worked as an instructor at Midland Normal School in Mason City, Iowa, and was later elected the County Superintendent of Cerro Gordo County in 1899. He also married Jennie McLeod. In 1905, Cole was elected president of the Big Seven Educational Association. The October 1942 Alumnus noted that he was living hear San Luis Obispo, California, and since leaving ISNS, had studied at both the University of Souther California and the University of California. By 1944, he was living in Santa Maria, California. Cole received a 60 year medal at the Iowa State Teachers College 75th Annual Alumni-Faculty Reunion in 1958.
