Lizzie Doderer (C. Elizabeth Doderer Daum) Collection

 Collection
Identifier: 19/31

Scope and Contents

This collection contains photographs and one copy of The Alumnus (July 1940). The photographs were accumulated by Lizzie Doderer, most likely while she was a student at the Iowa State Normal School, as well as later in her life. Many of the photographs are studio portraits of Doderer and her friends, including Emma Niederfrank, Ruia Bowersox, Mary Closz, Amy Walker, Nell Cole, Myrtie Lockwood, and others. Also included are images of groups outside of rooming / boarding houses, and outdoor gatherings. Some of the later photographs are possibly from South Dakota and more than likely date from later in Doderer's life. The copy of The Alumnus documents J.F. "Fred" Doderer's 50th class reunion. Doderer graduated from Iowa State Normal School in 1890 and later served as principal and superintendent in a variety of locations, including New Mexico, South Dakota, and Iowa. He later farmed and ranched in Pomona, California. Lizzie Doderer kept this issue and it contains a few of her handwritten notations.
