Scope and Contents

This collection consists of a scrapbook compiled by Arline Aldred during her two years at the Iowa State Teachers College, now known as the University of Northern Iowa. The scrapbook contains documents given to first-year students, such as handbooks, identification cards, registration cards, and residence hall cards. There are also several documents relating to academics at ISTC. Aldred's schedule of classes, test scores, and report cards are also included in the scrapbook. Outside of academics, there are several pamphlets from religious organizations on campus, Dad’s and Mother’s Day activities, and theatre playbills. There are also several programs from the feasts that were commonly held on campus, where Aldred was often a hostess. Additionally, several personal notes left by Arline about her time at ISTC are included.

Biographical / Historical

Arline Aldred attended Iowa State Teachers College (now the University of Northern Iowa or UNI) from 1941 to 1942. She was a two-year Elementary Education graduate of the education program. Additionally, Arline was active in the Flower Arranging Club and the Elementary Club.
