Biographical / Historical
Jerome Klinkowitz was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, in 1943. He earned his doctorate at the University of Wisconsin in 1970. His dissertation, "The Significance of the Ending to The House of Seven Gables", is present in this collection. He taught at Northern Illinois University before coming to the University of Northern Iowa in 1972. Specializing in contemporary American literature and culture, he is currently a professor at UNI. Professor Klinkowitz has published extensively in many genres. He is a leading scholar in the study of Kurt Vonnegut and other contemporary writers. He has written or edited over forty books on a wide variety of subjects, ranging from World War II to baseball. He has been an editor of the Norton Anthology of American Literature. His articles have appeared in many scholarly journals.
