Biographical / Historical
Charles E. Quirk joined the UNI faculty full time as Assistant Professor of History in 1965, after working part time since 1963. He was promoted to Associate Professor in 1969. In addition to his other responsibilities, from 1967 to 1970 he was the Director of the Honors Program on campus. Professor Quirk received a B. A. from Carroll College and a B. D. from McCormick Theological Seminary. He took advanced study at Harvard Divinity School and, in 1967, he completed a Ph. D. at the University of Iowa. From 1961 through 1963 he was Pastor of the First Presbyterian Church at Hamburg, Iowa. During the 1990s he was an academic editor for Garland Publishing.
