Biographical / Historical

Patricia Geadelmann became a member of the University of Northern Iowa (UNI) faculty in 1972 as a physical education instructor in the Department of Teaching. She earned her bachelor's degree in physical education from UNI and received her masters degree in physical education from the University of Iowa. Additionally, she obtained er Ed.D. from the University of North Carolina, where she focused on physical education-educational administration and curriculum. Throughout her career, Geadelmann held a few different positions within the UNI administration. In 1984, she joined the School of Health, Physical Education, and Recreation faculty and was appointed the Assistant Vice President for Academic Affairs. In 1988, Geadelmann became UNI's director of Governmental Relations, a position in which she served until 1996, when she became the Executive Assistant to the President and Director of External Relations. From 2001-2016 (her retirement), she was Special Assistant to the President. During her time at UNI, Geadelmann was a member of the Faculty Senate and the head of Price Laboratory School's physical education department. Geadelmann was involved in, and recognized by, a variety of organizations. In 1981, she received the Mabel Lee Award from the American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance and was recognized "as one of 10 Outstanding Young Women in Iowa." Additionally, Geadelmann was a member of the Iowa Commission on the Status of Women and served as its chairperson.
