Scope and Contents
The Daryl Pendergraft Papers contains bound books, note cards, newspaper clippings, film, reel-to-reel audiotapes, and a cassette tape. These materials primarily cover Pendergraft's work as assistant to President Maucker from 1950-1970 and President Kamerick from 1970 to 1971. There are also newspaper clippings relating to UNI.

Many items housed in the Rod Library Special Collections & University Archives, including unpublished images and manuscripts, may be protected by copyright, publication rights, trademarks, or model release rights which the library does not own and for which the library cannot grant permission or licensing. Biographical / Historical
Daryl Pendergraft was born in 1907 in Clarinda, Iowa. He received his bachelor's degree from Buena Vista College and his masters and Ph.D. degrees in history from the University of Iowa. His career in educationi started in public schools in Adair, Griswold, and Cedar Rapids, Iowa, where he taught and coached. Before teaching at the University of Northern Iowa, Pendergraft taught at the University of Kansas and Iowa State University. Additionally, he served in the Navy from 1934-1946. From 1946 until his death in 1975, Pendergraft held several different positions at the University of Northern Iowa (previously named Iowa State Teachers College and State College of Iowa). He was a professor of history, Coordinator of Curriculum, Assistant Dean of Faculty, Director of Field Services and Extension, Assistant to the President and Executive Dean, Acting President, and Vice President for Student Affairs and Field Services. Pendergraft also co-wrote the second volume of the UNI history book A Century of Leadership and Service with William Lang.
