Scope and Contents

This collection consists of a program for the 1981 Spring Banquet, a flier/calendar of upcoming meetings, and a memo about a Children’s Christmas Fundraiser and accompanying order forms. The collection also includes volumes of the organization’s newsletter (February 1981, April 1981), issues of a public relations alumni newsletter entitled “The PRofessional” (Fall 1984, 1989, 1990; Spring 1985, 1986, 1988-1990), and an issue of the PRSSA newsletter entitled, “PRogressor” (Fall/Winter 1999).

Biographical / Historical

The Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) is a national pre-professional student public relations organization. A chapter of PRSSA was chartered at the University of Northern Iowa in 1981. Open to all majors, the society helps students prepare for careers in the field, broaden networks, and enhance education. Throughout its history, the group has hosted guest speakers, attended/hosted national conferences, and participated in both university and community projects. The organization is still active at UNI as of 2025.
