Biographical / Historical
The Minnesingers Glee Club was established in 1890 for male students by music faculty member Julia Curtis. Robert Fullerton, also music faculty, directed the group from 1894 to 1896. The Minnesingers ceased to exist during World War I due to the general absence of men on campus before reforming under the direction of William E. Hays post-war. Hays led the club from 1921 to 1940, before it was disbanded. In 1981, the Varsity Men’s Glee Club became the first-all male glee club on campus since the Minnesingers ended.
