Peggy Denlinger (Pancratz) Collection
Scope and Contents
The Peggy Denlinger (Pancratz) Collection contains records from Jackson and Dubuque Counties that connect the educational histories of three families - Denlinger, Pancratz, and Wirtz. Ranging in date from c.1895 to 1989, the Collection is composed of rural school records from the following schools in Jackson County: Butler Township - Garryowen High School; Maquoketa and South Fork Townships - Maquoketa Public Schools; Otter Creek Township - St. Lawrence and Zwingle; and Prairie Springs Township - Holy Rosary High School and Salem School. Records from Dubuque County originated at: Dubuque Public Schools and Washington Township - #1 Franklin and #2 Biggins, and West St. Joseph’s. The wide variety of records – photographs, student and teacher records, and newspaper articles – compiled by the donor, Peggy Denlinger (Pancratz), include the educational records of her mother (Inez A. Donahue-Pancratz), father (Le Roy Pancratz Sr.), and siblings (Le Roy Jr., Tim, Randy, Joyce, and Mary Jo Pancratz). Materials from her husband (Dennis Denlinger), mother-in-law (Grace Denlinger-Wirtz), and father-in-law (Robert Denlinger) are included in addition to records from her mother-in-law’s brother (Thomas J. Wirtz).
