Dorothy Mason (Perrin) Textbook Collection
Scope and Contents
Dorothy E. Mason (Perrin) collected a wide range of textbooks used during her time as a student and teacher in Butler County, Iowa. Born on October 32, 1906, to Fred A. Perrin and Elizebeth Schreurs, Dorothy and her sister Esther M. Becker (Perrin) attended Albion Township, #7 Swanton. In 1920, Dorothy graduated and went on to attend New Hartford High School. Following graduation, she enrolled at the Iowa State Teachers College for the 1924-1925 school year. She went on to teach in the New Hartford School District, located in Beaver Township. Many of Dorothy’s textbooks from #7 Swanton were also used by her sister Esther. A 1927 graduate of New Hartford High School, Esther attended Iowa State Teachers College where she received her certificate in 1929. She returned to #7 Swanton where she taught from 1927-1936.
