Scope and Contents Fred W. Cover spent his life in the rural schools of Iowa - as student, then teacher, and, finally, administrator. He attended the Keokuk County Normal Institute, graduating in 1901. Mr. Cover taught in or served as principal of schools in Keokuk, Butler, Iowa, Mahaska, Black Hawk, and Benton Counties. Harry Barck Collection

As the District Board of Education Secretary for Black Hawk County, Cedar Falls Township, #6 Eddy School, Harry Barck amassed a collection of rural school records that shed light on the duties of a school board officer. In addition to Mr. Barck's secretarial records, The Harry Barck Collection contains materials from Mrs. Pauline L. Barck (Hekel), a rural school teacher, and the student records of the couple's two children, Frances A. Brunskill (Barck), and Philip H. Barck.

Jane Fauser Collection

The Jane Fauser Collection is comprised of Black Hawk County, Iowa rural school student and teacher records from Black Hawk County, Iowa. Dating from 1902-1989, the majority of the records are from the donor's mother, Muriel Alice Parker, who attended Dunkerton Consolidated School or Mt. Vernon Township where the donor's father, George Knapp, attended. Jane Fauser is a sister of Nancy Brochers, who also has a collection at CHRIEC (see RSC/HEC/018).

The Jerry and JoAnn Kramer Collection is composed of records dating from 1883-2006 that concern the history of education in Bennington Township, Black Hawk County, Iowa; primarily Bennington Township, #4. Divided into two series, "Series 1: Bennington #4 Renovation Project" and "Series 2: Rural School Records", the collection provides insight into the past and present uses of rural schools.

Nancy Brochers Collection

The Nancy Brochers Collection contains Black Hawk County, Iowa rural school student records dating from 1905-1941. A majority of the collection originated in Mt. Vernon Township where the donor's father, George Knapp, attended. However, the collection also contains records from the donor's mother, Muriel Alice Parker, who attended Dunkerton Consolidated School. Nancy Brochers is a sister of Jane Fauser, who also has a collection at CHRIEC (see RSC/HEC/009).
