Eddy family papers
Scope and Contents
The Eddy family papers contain correspondence, ephemeral materials, and photographs primarily concerning the Culver and Eddy families. This collection follows the families' movements and their efforts to stay connected with one another. It is arranged into three series based on type of material. Series 1, Correspondence, is largely centered around Sarah Ann (Culver) Eddy and her children, grandchildren, and siblings, including Mary E. Culver, Helen M. Eddy, and Eunice C. Rice. Correspondence topics include property, local conditions, homes, and business matters. The series also contains correspondence from Hazel Watson Tisch and Blanche Watson, of Cedar Falls, Iowa, to their family. Blanche Watson attended the Iowa State Teachers College (now the University of Northern Iowa) beginning in 1915. The second series, Ephemera, consists of postcards; information about the incorporation, financing, and plot map for a cemetery; invitations; receipts; insurance policies; and more, dating from the 1870s to the 1930s. The final series, Photographs, contains an assortment of visual materials, including carte-de-visites, cabinet photographs, and early 20th century photographs. Additional information and details about the collection's contents is available in the collection control file. Please ask staff for assistance if you would like to access this information.
