This collection consists primarily of material that Adene Sadie Kerstetter Leupold used when she was teaching in Iowa country schools in the 1930s and early 1940s. It also includes material relating to her time as a student at the Iowa State Teachers College, where she took her professional training to become a teacher.

Biographical / Historical

Adene Sadie Kerstetter Leupold was born around 1913, the daughter of J. B. Kerstetter of Charles City, Iowa. She attended Iowa State Teachers College from 1930 until 1932 and then again in 1936 and 1942. She did her student teaching at a school in Waterloo, Iowa. In Spring 1932, she received her diploma from ISTC for Teachers in the Intermediate Grades. From 1934 to 1935 she taught ten students at a rural school in Floyd County, School District Number 13. Her salary for nine months of teaching was $49.50 per month. In 1936, she received a teaching award from Charles City. She married in about 1942.

- Fall 1931: Student taught at a school in Waterloo and Elementary School Methods
- Spring 1932: Hebrew Religion I; Life and Letters of Paul; Hygiene and Sanitation; American Colonial History; History of Iowa; Intermediate Tennis
- Summer 1936 - Lived in Bartlett Hall: American History since 1865; Teaching of Reading and Spelling; Teaching of Geography; Beginning Swimming
- Fall 1942 Junior Status--Lived in 308 Seerley Hall: Elementary School Supervision; Survey of Biological Sciences; School Laws; Intermediate Arts for Intermediate Grades; National Dancing
