Scope and Contents

Three large areas of the collection are the EPIC/Salute records, Day-on-the-Job, and general files. The EPIC/Salute records (1983-1998), found in Boxes 1 and 2, contain correspondence, nominations, evaluations, and publications. The Day-on-the-Job program material (1977-1986), found in box 4, includes schedules, correspondence, and evaluations. The general files of WIC officers (1976-1998), found in boxes 5 and 6, contain minutes, correspondence, publicity, programming, and some publications.

Conditions Governing Access

No restrictions. Materials are open for research.

Technical Access

Some material uses obsolete technology, such as VHS tapes, cassette tapes, and floppy disks. These have not been transcribed or digitized. They may require the production of a listening or viewing copy. SC&UA will determine use on a case by case basis.

Many items housed in the Rod Library Special Collections & University Archives, including unpublished images and manuscripts, may be protected by copyright, publication rights, trademarks, or model release rights which the library does not own and for which the library cannot grant permission or licensing. Materials currently under copyright are usually still available for research and limited reproduction under Fair Use laws. Manuscript collections and archival records may contain materials with sensitive or confidential information that is protected under federal or state right to privacy or similar laws, and the Iowa Open Records Law (see Iowa Code ยง 22.7). Researchers are advised that the disclosure of certain information pertaining to identifiable living individuals represented in this collection without the consent of those individuals may have legal ramifications (e.g., a cause of action under common law for invasion of privacy may arise if facts concerning an individual's private life are published that would be deemed highly offensive to a reasonable person) for which the University of Northern Iowa assumes no responsibility.

Immediate Source of Acquisition

Materials dated from 1976 through 1987 were donated to the UNI Archives by Susan Salterberg, UNI Public Relations Office, in the summer of 1988. The materials dated from 1987 through 1998 were given to the Archives in April 1998. Additional materials, dated 1976 through 1983, were received in June 1998
