School Library Studies records

 Collection
Identifier: 13/02/04

Scope and Contents

This collection consists of videos and DVDs, textbooks, coursepacks, workshop notes, posters, and binders. The materials largely are dated after the program became part of the Department of Curriculum & Instruction. It is arranged into six series.

The Marjorie Pappas materials consist of Follett Teaching Information Literacy binders, Pathways posters, and the “Know It All” VHS tapes and DVDs. They represent former UNI faculty member Pappas’ work.

The Iowa City Curricula series contains materials worked on by Dr. Jean Donham (faculty in SLS from 2009 to 2014), including workshop materials and accreditation / program information.

The Barbara Safford materials consist of five course binders from classes Safford taught in SLS, primarily from the years before her retirement in 2008. The materials are specifically from her preparation for her ICN classes, taught at a distance via video conferencing.

Series 4, Iowa Core documents, are, according to donor records, from part of Jean Donham’s presentations and focus on curriculum information.

The final series, Miscellaneous, includes two VHS tapes: “Why We’re Here: Preparing ‘Tech-Able’ Teacher Candidates” and School Library Policies (November 17, 2008). See the control file for more information about the tapes. It also includes two documents; see the inventory for details.
