Biographical / Historical
The Tallgrass Prairie Center was founded at the Native Roadside Vegetation Center at the University of Northern Iowa (UNI) in 1999, by UNI Biology professor, Dr. Daryl Smith. Its name was changed to the Tallgrass Prairie Center in January 2006 in an effort to better reflect the center’s goals, activities, and more. It includes various programs, such as Research and Restoration, Iowa Roadside Management, Plant Materials, and Prairie on Farms.” The Center often partners with different organizations, ranging from national to local, and provides opportunities for UNI students.
