Scope and Contents

The collection is arranged into three series. The first, Administrative Records consists of accounting courses catalogs as well as memos and correspondence relating to position vacancies, scholarships, and events. Series 2, Programs & Ephemera, contains brochures about the undergraduate and graduate accounting programs and brief information about faculty. The final series, Publications, is comprised of departmental newsletters and two issues of an alumni magazine. The newsletters include information about events, CPA exams, alumni, the Accounting Advisory Council, and more.

Biographical / Historical

The University of Northern Iowa has offered an accounting major since 1970. It became its own standalone department within the School of Business in 1981, following the dismantling of the existing College of Business and Behavioral Sciences. The Department of Accounting has been part of the School of Business (later the College of Business Administration) ever since.
