The collection is arranged into three series. The first, Biographical Information, contains newspaper clippings, biographical sketches, faculty records, and faculty meeting minutes. It also includes ephemeral material, such as the “Constitution of the Oratorical Association” and the “Iowa State Teachers College Lecture Bureau” booklet. Note: one news clipping was taped to its original folder and could not be removed. It was copied and the copy was placed in this collection.

The second series, Correspondence, dates from 1907-1940 and is the bulk of the collection. It contains a mix of handwritten and typed letters, both incoming and outgoing. The correspondence largely focuses on Condit’s duties as head of the Department of Mathematics and the Department of Mathematics and Commercial Department. Topics include staffing needs / considerations, scheduling, salary information, courses, letters of recommendation, and people reaching out asking about possible positions at ISTC. Examples of Condit’s correspondents include President O.R. Latham, President Homer Seerley, Benjamin Boardman, and Neva Henrietta Radell. Please note that bundles of letters were kept bundled according to their original order.

The final series, Association of Contributors to Iowa Education and History, contains correspondence and other materials related to that Association, which was founded in January 1909 with Condit (along with a few other ISTC educators) serving as an officer. The goal of the organization was “to give to the State of Iowa an organized means of collecting and preserving such facts, data, materials and objects as in any way relate to the origin, growth and development of education…” in Iowa. Much of the series focuses on membership and educational materials. Also included is a pageant script dated 1927 called “The Pioneers.” This series was kept in its original order.
