David Hays Papers

 Collection
Identifier: 14/10/02/03

Scope and Contents

This collection was compiled by former UNI staff member David Hays in conjunction with his work to help create a Gay and Lesbian Studies course at UNI. The bulk of the collection consists of materials gauging student interest in the development of a Gay and Lesbian Studies course. The materials date from 1990 to 1991 and include survey summaries from two groups, "Select Group - UNI-GLO/Friends" and "Random Group - Classes" as well as anonymized survey responses. Survey questions include the participant's comfort level in taking the proposed course, their sexual orientation, and specific gay and lesbian topics in which they were interested. Related materials include a UNI course packet for "Intro to Gay and Lesbian Studies, 68:059," featuring articles about sexuality, plitics, gender, lesbianism, and more, and sample materials from the University of Iowa's similar efforts. The collection also contains one Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender Alliance (LGBTA) t-shirt.
