Biographical / Historical
The College of Natural Sciences (CNS) was proposed following the State College of Iowa's designation as a university and its subsequent name change to the University of Northern Iowa (UNI). The college was first proposed in 1967 and was offically established in July 1968 when UNI's college structure went into effect. It was one of UNI's original five colleges and initially consisted of the departments in industrial arts and technology, mathematics, and science. Over the course of its existence, departments were added, changed, and / or removed. CNS was merged with the College of Humanities and Fine Arts (CHFA) in 2011 to create the newly established College of Humanities, Arts and Sciences.
