Vice President and Provost Office Files (including Academic Affairs files)
Scope and Contents
This large series covers matters of great importance to the University of Northern Iowa: for example, strategic planning, long-range planning, academic program review, accreditation, student outcomes assessment, and faculty productivity.
The records also included a substantial quantity of material from the Office of Academic Affairs. The records were so thoroughly mixed when they arrived in the Archives that it did not seem appropriate, or even possible, to sort them into their respective offices. Dates range from about 1972 to 2012, with the preponderance of material from the 1980s and 1990s.

General Use, Reproduction, and Copyright Policies
Many items housed in the Rod Library Special Collections & University Archives, including unpublished images and manuscripts, may be protected by copyright, publication rights, trademarks, or model release rights which the library does not own and for which the library cannot grant permission or licensing. Materials currently under copyright are usually still available for research and limited reproduction under Fair Use laws. However, it is the sole responsibility of the patron to determine whether or not their use of a given material falls within Fair Use guidelines and to obtain permission for said use from the rightful copyright owner.
Sensitive Materials Statement
Manuscript collections and archival records may contain materials with sensitive or confidential information that is protected under federal or state right to privacy or similar laws, and the Iowa Open Records Law (see Iowa Code ยง 22.7). Researchers are advised that the disclosure of certain information pertaining to identifiable living individuals represented in this collection without the consent of those individuals may have legal ramifications (e.g., a cause of action under common law for invasion of privacy may arise if facts concerning an individual's private life are published that would be deemed highly offensive to a reasonable person) for which the University of Northern Iowa assumes no responsibility.

Arrangement
There was no overall order to this collection when it arrived in the University Archives. Consequently, the processor of the records imposed his own order by placing similar material together. Likewise, many folders lack clear organization. Due to time constraints, the processor often simply transferred the contents of the original folders into archival folders without careful sorting. Researchers should take the time to look at all folders relating to a particular topic. (GP)
Custodial History
Most of the records were stored in the Office of the President and the Office of the Vice President and Provost, with some stored in the lower level of Gilchrist Hall
Immediate Source of Acquisition
This collection was donated to SC&UA in 2014, as a result of an exchange of Seerley Hall offices between the President and the Vice President and Provost.
