Biographical / Historical

The College of Education Advising & Teacher Education Success (CATS) office in the University of Northern Iowa (UNI) College of Education was formed in 2021 following the merger of the College of Education Advising office and the Teacher Education office. CATS supports students preparing to become teachers, guiding them through the Teacher Education Program admissions process, class registration, teacher licensure, and more. It also serves as a resource during student field experiences and student teaching.

The UNI Educator Preparation Program (EPP), in collaboration with CATS and other College of Education resources, provides a framework for students aiming to work in schools. It offers administrative oversight for graduate education programs requiring licensure in Iowa. It also enables educators to apply classrooms and pedagogy in practical settings, navigate changing social contexts, and demonstrate advocacy and leadership.
