Biographical / Historical
The Old Gold first sponsored a beauty contest in c. 1925, with the goal of naming the most beautiful co-eds at the Iowa State Teachers College. The entire campus community was eligible to vote. The Old Gold continued to hold the contest over the next four decades, with the last mention of the Old Gold Bueaty Queen mentioned in 1966. In 1968, the Old Gold opted to host a variety show in lieu of a beauty pagaent.
