Scope and Contents

This collection of materials consists primarily of communications generated by the Office of the President under the leadership of President Mark Nook. These communications were sent to all of the University of Northern Iowa community and are not personal in nature. There are also a few programs and a holiday card.

Scope and Contents The journal consists of 116 handwritten pages, with nearly daily entries concerning Thomas Seerley's journey from South English, Iowa, to Virginia City, Montana, from May 2, 1864 to August 26, 1864. Contents for the entries typically include notes about the day's travel (distance, weather, geography); disputes or concerns among the traveling party; his health and mood; and the availability of resources along the way. This collection is strong concerning administrative aspects of Dr. Kamerick's administration. It also contains UNI's policies and procedures manual from 1974, 1979, and 1989, with updates to certain regulations from 2013, in addition to ephemeral content produced by the Office of the President at this time.

Scope and Contents The Homer H. Seerley papers consist primarily of Seerley's incoming and outgoing correspondence. The correspondence is a mix of both bound volumes and loose leaf papers, and covers a wide variety of subjects, including the administrative functioning of the school, commentary on social issues, and matters concerning World War I. Scope and Contents The arrangement of the papers reflects the incremental growth of the collection. There is a certain amount of redundancy to the arrangement, with material on the same topic located in two or three places.
