Biographical / Historical
George Hoyt Sawyers served as the superintendent of schools in Osage, Iowa. Nora M. Vaughan graduated from the Iowa State Normal School (now the University of Northern Iowa) in 1892 before working in various Iowa schools including in New Hartford, Grundy Center, and Osage. She married George Sawyers in 1900. Information about Ruth Vaughan Sawyer is sparse, outside of her graduation date from Osage High School (Iowa), in 1933. Some additional information about her is included in the collection's control file.
Immediate Source of Acquisition
The Nora Vaughan, Ruth Sawyer, and George Sawyer certificates and diplomas were acquired from the Weber State University Stewart Library Special Collections in January 2023.
