Board of Student Publications, 1932-1992

 Series
Identifier: 10/01/01

Scope and Contents

The school years 1932-1933, where the collection begins, through 1938-1939 are documented only by minutes. There is no documentation for the years 1939-1940 through 1942-1943. Financial records are the organization’s only documentation from 1943-1944 through 1947-1948. After that the documentation is very strong on minutes through 1991-1992.

Most years between 1948-1949 and 1961-1962 have financial and personnel documentation. The school year 1961-1962 was the first to retain documents of policies, constitutions, and by-laws. Most years thereafter did, as well.

In the 1968-1969 school years documents began to be retained for correspondence, proposals, specifications, recommendations, and requisitions for equipment. From 1968-1969 through 1991-1992 the documentation is strong in each area.

Included in the 1982 documents is information from the Associated Collegiate Press and National Council.

Biographical / Historical

The Board of Student Publications, as it was originally called, has had a variety of names over the years. It was renamed the Board of Control of Student Publications in the 1934-1935 school year before reverting to the Board of Student Publications during the 1935-1936 academic year.

In 1936-1937, it became the Board of Control. The next documented minutes are from the 1948-1949 school year, when the organization was called the Board of Control of Student Publications. In 1972-1973 the name was changed again to the Board of Student Publications.
