North Central Association, Higher Learning Commission Re-accreditation Visit Collection, 2008-2011

 Sub-Series
Identifier: 03/01/01

Scope and Contents

This collection was assembled in preparation for a re-accreditation visit to the University of Northern Iowa by the North Central Association, Higher Learning Commission in November 2010.  As such, the collection is an excellent snapshot of the programs, services, plans, websites, and policies of the university at that time.  In addition,  the official university publications included in the collection offer a good look at the way in which the university wished to be viewed by the public and the accreditors.

Most of this collection served as a body of evidence and support for the self-study performed in preparation for the visit of the accreditation team.  Over half of the collection is arranged as supporting documentation for the footnotes and references in the self-study.  Files are labeled and arranged in the order in which footnotes or references appear in the self-study:  for example, Chapter 1, footnotes 1-10; Chapter 1, footnotes 11-20; and so on.  In most footnotes folders, the actual referenced document is present. In a few cases, there is only a further reference to a source. The collection also includes some freestanding documents that were apparently assembled for the use of the accreditation visitors.  There is also a limited amount of evidence of the work of the campus preparation committee itself.
