Scope and Contents
This collection contains documents from the rural school system of Grundy County, Iowa dating from 1886-1967. The records cover a majority of the rural schools’ histories, but they are not comprehensive: some records were lost before their transfer to the Center for the History of Rural Iowa Education and Culture. The collection material is arranged into three series: “County Board of Education, 1956-1967”, “Office of the Superintendent, 1895-1976”, and “District and School, 1932-1966”. Series 1. "County Board of Education, 1956-1967" contains records pertaining to the County Board of Education. This series consists of County Board of Education Meeting Minutes and County Board of Education Financial Records. Series 2. This series contains High School Normal Training Records, Teachers' Examination Records, Record of Teachers' Certificates, Record of Schools Taught, Teachers' Teaching Records, Eighth Grade Examination Records, and Eighth Grade Graduation Records.
