This collection contains documents from the rural school system of Fremont County, Iowa dating from 1890-1975. The records cover a majority of the rural schools’ histories, but they are not comprehensive: some records were lost before their transfer to the Center for the History of Rural Iowa Education and Culture. The collection material is arranged into three series: “County Board of Education, 1919-1975”, “Office of the Superintendent, 1890-1975” and “District and School, 1925-1966”. Series 1. "County Board of Education, 1919-1975" contains records materials produced by the County Board of Education. This series consists of County Board of Education Meeting Minutes. Series 2. "Office of the Superintendent, 1890-1975" is composed of records Office of the Superintendent. This series contains Teachers' Examination Records, Record of Teachers' Certificates, School Officer and Teacher Records, Teachers' Teaching Records, School Census Records, and Eighth Grade Examination Records. Series 3. "District and School, 1925-1966" contains records documenting individual districts or schools. This series includes Teachers' Reports to the Superintendent, Daily Attendance Registers, and Missionary Bible College (High School) Records.
