Floyd County Rural School Records

 Collection
Identifier: RSC-RSR-034

Scope and Contents

This collection contains documents from the rural school system of Floyd County, Iowa dating from 1905-1967. The records cover a majority of the rural schools’ histories, but they are not comprehensive: some records were lost before their transfer to the Center for the History of Rural Iowa Education and Culture. The collection material is arranged into three series: “County Board of Education, 1919-1967”, “Office of the Superintendent, 1905-1967”, and “District and School, 1935-1958”. Series 1. "County Board of Education, 1919-1967" contains microfilmed copies of records created by the County Board of Education.  It consists solely of County Board of Education Meeting Minutes. Series 2. "Office of the Superintendent, 1905-1967" is comprised of microfilmed copies of records created by the Office of the Superintendent. This series contains Superintendents' Annual Reports, School Officer and Teacher Records, Pupils' Permanent Records, and Eighth Grade Examination Records. Series 3. "District and School, 1935-1958" is composed of microfilmed copies of records created by individual schools and districts. This series contains Room Registers.
