Buchanan County Rural School Records
Scope and Contents
This collection contains documents from the rural school system of Buchanan County, Iowa dating from 1922-1974. The records cover a majority of the rural schools’ histories, but they are not comprehensive: some records were lost before their transfer to the Center for the History of Rural Iowa Education and Culture. The collection material is arranged into two series: “Office of the Superintendent, 1922-1974” and “District and School Records, 1926-1966”. Series 1. “Office of the Superintendent, 1922-1974” is composed of records created by the Office of the Superintendent. This series contains Teachers' Examination Records and Eighth Grade Examination Records. Series 2. “District and School, 1926-1966” contains records documents produced by individual school districts. This series contains Teachers’ Reports to the Superintendent and Daily Attendance Registers.
