Bremer County Rural School Records
Scope and Contents
This collection contains documents from the rural school system of Bremer County, Iowa dating from 1904-1975. The records cover a majority of the rural schools’ histories, but they are not comprehensive: some records were lost before their transfer to the Center for the History of Rural Iowa Education and Culture. The collection material is arranged into three series: “County Board of Education, 1919-1930”, “Office of the Superintendent, 1904-1975”, and “District and School Records, 1937-1966”. Series 1. “County Board of Education, 1919-1930” contains records produced by the County Board of Education. This series consists solely of County Board of Education Meeting Minutes. Series 2. “Office of the Superintendent, 1904-1975” is composed of records created by the Office of the Superintendent. This series consists of Teachers' Examination Records, Teachers' Record Cards, Record of Schools Taught, Pupils' Permanent Records, Eighth Grade Examination Records, and Seventh Grade Examination Records. Series 3. “District and School, 1937-1966” contains records produced by individual school districts. This series consists of Preliminary Classification Reports.
